It's February.
LOVE month.
Oh the expectations around good 'ol Valentine's Day! Whether you love it and hate it, there is definitely no escaping that it is coming. Everywhere you turn, there are suggestions of ways to express your love. Hearts on coffee cups, red balloons, chocolates galore and of course, roses. But in the spirit of Tina Turner, "what does love got to do with it?"
Not so much.
I don't know about you, but my relationship is not made nor broken by how we spend Valentine's day. Neither one of us thrive under the pressure of this Hallmark day. My husband spends all day wrestling with what to do or buy for me and gets all stressed out about even finding the time to buy a card. I am no better shape at my end. I try and think up something we might do different or exciting or sexy and usually end up doing the same old thing or hoping my husband surprises me with a blow-me-away plan. Either way, who needs the stress?
Instead of using February to remind me to BE in love all month. Not just with my husband but the rest of my life too. Be in love with my clients (easy!), be in love with my current level of fitness (a work in progress), be in love with my children, my family, my friends, my colleagues (yum!) and be in love with things that are less easy to appreciate. Like paperwork. Like making lunches. Like moving forward with a business plan with ease and simplicity so that every day does not feel like 'work'.
That feels like LOVE.
How about you?
To BEing in love.
